If you’re feeling the weight of old stories rising to the surface, this ritual is for you. When the foundations of your self-worth are rumbling, when your body is asking for deep rest, when you feel the pull to withdraw from life and cocoon, this will guide you through.
There's an avalanche of false identity echoing through the valleys of our lives right now, and I have a simple honouring ritual for you, to cut away those sandbags and rise into the light.
You'll call in your inner healer and your wise woman, offer whatever is dead or dying to a sacred flame, and let the earth turn it into nourishment for the path ahead, so you can fully embrace the beauty, magic and abundance that's truly yours to claim.
I first shared it with my email tribe, the Inner Circle [sign up here] as autumn passed the baton to winter, and it felt too good to leave in an inbox. This ritual is especially potent in the balsamic moon phase, in the days before the new moon, and in the final days of your pre-menstrumm.
Here it is for you, whenever you need it.
Your Sacred Burial Ritual
Create an altar space for your prayer, or enhance your existing one with the autumnal colours or red and gold. Go out for a walk and collect leaves and berries, thanking each one as you receive it into your hands.
- Add any dark crystals you have, amethyst, smoky quartz, labradorite,
- Some oil for anointing, (spikenard, cedar, rose are beautiful),
- A small candle in gold or red, or a simple tea light will do.
Close the doors. Put your phone in another room on silent, and make room to dive into your inner world.
Place your hands on your belly, thumbs into the navel, your place of initial receptivity in this life and the home of your mystic star and the gold rose. See, sense or feel a gold rose bud blossoming under the warmth of your touch.
Now let your fingers meet like a heart around your womb space, pointing down to your earth star, home of the red rose. See, sense or feel a red rose bud blossoming at the meeting of your fingertips.
You're connecting two powerful energy centres, where your gold inner healer, meets your red wise woman.
Sit and breathe here a while your roses are blooming. Feel the weight of your body, the cycling of your breathe.
See, sense or feel your inner healer and your wise woman gathering, joining you to form a triangle of light. You, the embodied whole, and these two facets of your being at your sides.
When you feel their presence, light your candle. Place a drop of oil in your hand and gently anoint your third eye with your fingertip. Rub the remaining oil between your palms to warm it and breathe it into all the cells of the body. Then let your hands travel around your crown, over your head and shoulders and down over your body, with gentle touch, bathing your whole being in the scent.
When you’re ready speak as one unified voice:
“I call forward any dead or dying parts, stories, bonds, contracts or beliefs which are distorting the field of love and the presence of love in my life. [pause to let them gather]
I offer them to this sacred flame, with love and gratitude for all they have taught me, for all the experiences and truth they have revealed to me, and for the forgiveness they now gift me as I release them back to the earth for composting.”
Now sit and see what's rising in the body. Are there sensations or movements that need your attention? Bring starlight into any discomfort, and use touch or sound or movement to move the energy through the cells. Anything that needs releasing, you can offer into the sacred flame.
And if stories rise with the sensations, the old memories, the who-did-what and the why, let them move through you without following them down a rabbit hole. We don't always need to understand something for it to be released. Allow the ritual to do its work beyond the mind, in the body, in the flame, in the earth. Your only job is to stay present and keep offering what naturally arises.
Sit with the flame in the Trinity of Light, with your inner healer and wise woman holding you, guiding you back to the truth of who you are and your original soul frequency. Beyond the distortions of time, pain and suffering, allowing the old identities to effortlessly fall away in a cascade of light.
When this feels complete, sense the spaciousness in your body. Invite more of your soul light to inhabit this space and to take up more room in this world.
Add a drop of oil to your navel with the index finger of your left hand, and keep it resting there as you fill your body with light and say aloud:
“It is safe for me to move forward and expand in the true light of my being. I choose love in every moment. I choose to say yes to life. I choose me, for I am my true love soulmate. I am the great beloved I have been seeking. And I am free.
So be it. So it is.”
When you feel ready, blow out your candle. Thank your healer and wise woman, and receive them back into the field of your heart.
Your ritual is complete.
Take a slow breath and feel what's different in your body now, the lightness, the spaciousness, the quiet. You've given the old stories a sacred burial, and you've made room for what's ready to arrive. The only thing left is to return your offering to the earth.
What remains of the candle can be buried or disposed of as an offering. Add some rose petals or a drop of your anointing oil. If you feel called to journal, write anything that came up on a sheet of paper and add it too. Take it to a tree or a special place in your garden, dig a hole and leave your offering to the earth, with thanks and gratitude, for the greater good of all.
With so much love, Samjhana
